“The Good Doctor” trying to figure itself out one episode at a time

After holding off for some time, I decided to finally watch “The Good Doctor” starring Freddie Highmore as a savant Doctor, three days ago. 3/4 of the way in and I can say that it’s done the job of entertaining/engaging me, and I’m definitely getting invested in the characters, but I am also getting the sense that the show is struggling to decide what type of medical drama it wants to be. Through the first 10 episodes I feel like I’m watching a variation of the show House (2004-2012), team based medical drama, where the main character is brilliant but different, the one nice difference is that “The Good Doctor” has done an excellent job of keeping Shawn (Freddie Highmore) human, making mistakes, and learning through his residency. I think that’s why I’m getting so attached to the character.

Supporting cast is good but I’m not, acting is on point, but sometimes I feel like I don’t believe them as Doctor’s which kind of pulls me out of the show. When watching House (2004-2012) I never questioned that the supporting cast were Doctor’s.

I once starred in a movie titled "Tomi's First Birthday" it was a straight to VHS production that received mix reviews. My parents loved it, my brother thought it was boring.
